Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
by Elsewhere intop ten signs you're a fundamentalist christian
10 - you vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.. .
9 - you feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the biblical claim that we were created from dirt.. .

Local needs after d/f or reproof
by jambon1 inthis may be a question for ex-elders.
is it always the case that a talk will be given after a d/f or reproof relating to the persons 'sin'?
after these announcements in our hall we always seemed to have a talk/local needs, which practically told you what the person had done.

never was an elder but this used to be the case when I was still in. I believe its been stopped in the states because DF'd ones were taking the org to court on Slander and defamation of character charges.

How Did Things Change After You Were Baptised?
by whyizit ini've noticed that a lot of jws and former jws have said there was a big change after they became baptised.
how were you treated before, as compared to after?
is there really that noticeable of a difference?

After you are baptized, are you then expected to immediately go out and start recruiting?
Before you are baptised you have to start going out doing the doors, So even before you're baptised to are expected to be trying to gain recruits.
I was told their are territories. My friend lives kind of far away, but what if she became baptized and needed a recruit to count her time on, and if I told her I would study, but only with her. Would she be able to do that, then count our time together? Even if I wasn't in her "territory"?
Yes she can do that, though why you'd want to study I have no Idea. If you are in territory that is covered by another congregation she would be expected to start taking someone from that congregation along with her after a while, the intention being that eventually she would pass your study over to that other brother or sister and that you would then start to attend the nearest kingdom hall to you.
Depending how new and knowledgeable in the truth the study conductor is he or she may be instructed to take along another witness to help in the study.
There's also the issue of Sex. if you and the witness are different sexes another would have to go along to make sure nothing was going on.
And how about when they go to someones house for a book study. Who gets to count that time? The person who brought the recruit? The entire group gets to count it? Or the person holding the study in their house?
The Book study conductor counts that time, hes normally an Elder -

Slap Uncle Bruce Here ~ Weak Poll #1
by unclebruce ing'day rude people,
some of you are just now learning what long-suffering older posters have known all along i can be very annoying!
my rising paranoia tells me enemies are setting up all around ... golf keeps whacking me with his #12 iron, the elders keep threatening to take me to the backroom, and even the mild mannered caveman comes out to kick me in the go-nuts

Is the Governing Body lovers of righteousness or...
by Honesty inare they murderers and slayers of men?.
examine their policies and decide for yourself:.
1. disfellowshipping - how many jw's have committed suicide over this policy?.

1. Disfellowshipping - how many JW's have committed suicide over this policy?
Unfortunately, any time I broached this subject with individual JW's whose families had not been impacted by changing ;Governing Body policies the response always was, "They were being faithful to Jehovah and he'll ressurect them anyway."
Disfellowshipped people who are not repentant wont be resurrected though !
It gets me so angry when i hear of parents telling their DF'd kids "I wish you were dead because then at least you'd be resurrected in the Ns rather than dying at Armageddon."

feelings on leaving
by beezknees ini'm new here glad to have found a place where people have been thru the same things, i'v been inactive 4 over a year now and after much research realise i have 2 totally break free from this organisation, i was brought up in the religion and am now 30 married to a witness (also inactive at the mo) my dad was an elder until my sister disgraced the family by leaving the jws but he still goes to meetings my mum is hit and miss but won't hav a word said against the 'truth'.
so heres my probs, telling my parents ..i know i'm 30 but its kinda hard i know what i will get mislead by the devil.. apostate..condemned my kids 2 death etc..my husband isn't too keen on the research either saying its apostate material., although it has made him think.
and my 2 lovely little boys age 9 and 7 what do i tell them??

i have been having really bad dreams about armageddon and the demons etc..and feelings of being panicky/fearful, part of me thinks what if i am going crazy or being mislead
What you have to do is to start tearing down these beliefs to do that you need to start at the foundations.
The Governing body have told so many lies to back up their claim that they are the faithful and discrete slave, lying about the fall of Jerusalem, the "qualifications" of their people who translated the new world translation, lying over the blood issue, lying about their involvement with the UN and lying about owning stocks and shares in companies that make weapons and cigarettes. Who's the father of the Lie?
Did you know that the person who started the Jw's was a convicted conman who went around selling what he called "Miracle Wheat" to farmers that was suppose to be blessed by god... it turned out to be just normal wheat. Russell was a lying cheating conman and as Jesus once said, you don't get good fruit from a bad vine.

Did You Lead A "Double Life"?
by minimus ini believe jehovah's witnesses are trained to learn how to live a double life.
we were trained to use subterfuge with teachers, the law, doctors and the courts.
we were trained in "theocratic strategy" .
